Description
This white paper summarises the work undertaken by the Earth Observation for Sustainable Aggregate Supply (EO4SAS) over nine months between July 2020 and March 2021, with the support of stakeholders in Kenya. It reviews the current position of sand extraction in Kenya, and whether using Earth Observation (EO) satellite data could support a cost-effective online tool that would be useful for monitoring and managing sand. In addition, it looks at underpinning governance actions that would be required and the challenges to deliver this form of a solution in Kenya.
