During December our key activities should involve: Meeting with the Kenya Space Agency. Undertake further demonstrations of potential screen mock-ups of the potential future system for user feedback. Produce an interactive case study demonstrating some of the capabilities that can be offered by Earth Observation satellite data for users to start to see and utilise. Engaging with the other organisations within Kenya who are involved in developing remote sensing products and services.

November was an exciting month where we were able to start show stakeholders some examples of how things might look in a future system, and had a number of interesting meetings. The key activities we did during this month were: Had good meetings with both the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) and the National Commission for Science, Technology & Innovation (NACOSTI) in Kenya. The key tasks we’re aiming to get during this month are: A second round of interviews with stakeholders we’ve already met to get their feedback on the initial user requirements and satellite products we’ve developed, to help enhance these elements. Further interviews with new stakeholders to further enhance knowledge of sand mining in Kenya. This was a really exciting month on the project! Firstly, the project itself was formally launched, alongside this website, at the start of October during World Space Week. We have spent most of the month discussing the project with over sixty stakeholders from a number of different counties in Kenya, and a number of local and national Government bodies. The project got started during this month – although our formal kick-off meeting was at the end of August.
